Volusion to Shopify migration, without losing your rankings or your customers

You can feel that Volusion has stopped keeping up: the product and bandwidth caps, the dated templates, the short app list, the checkout that struggles on a phone. We move your store from Volusion to Shopify with every product, Option and order intact, every old Volusion URL redirected, and a storefront rebuilt to sell. You keep your Google rankings and your history, and leave behind the limits that were holding you back.

Free migration review, a fixed quote in writing, and a reply within one business day.

Everything comes with you from Volusion

  • Every Volusion URL, 301-redirected
  • Products, Options and order history
  • Your customers and their accounts
  • Your Google rankings

Why Volusion owners are moving to Shopify

Most Volusion owners we talk to aren’t chasing a trend. They’ve outgrown a platform that stopped growing with them. These are the reasons we hear most.

You pay more just to keep growing

Volusion caps you by plan: 100 products on Personal, 5,000 on Professional, 15,000 on Business, plus an annual sales cap and a bandwidth cap with roughly $7 per GB in overage. The better your store does, the more those limits cost you. Shopify doesn’t cap your products, your sales or your bandwidth.

The platform stopped moving

Volusion filed for Chapter 11 in 2020 and came out in 2021, and there’s been little real investment since: no AI-era search, no headless, few checkout improvements. Shopify ships new commerce features constantly.

The Admin and apps feel stuck

Volusion lists roughly 80 apps to Shopify’s thousands, and there’s no modern API, so the feature you want usually means custom work on the .asp templates. On Shopify it’s normally an install.

Checkout that leaks sales on phones

Most store traffic is on a phone now, and a clunky mobile checkout is where it quietly costs you orders. A faster, cleaner checkout is the reason owners most often tell us they finally moved.

What we move off Volusion, and what we protect

When you migrate from Volusion to Shopify, some things transfer cleanly, a few need care, and a couple don’t move at all for good reasons. Here’s the honest breakdown.

Products, Options and images

We pull your catalog through Volusion’s Import/Export (under the Inventory tab) and bring over your products, their Options — what Shopify calls variants — with every ProductCode, description and price. Volusion exports Option images unreliably, so we audit those by hand rather than hope.

Customers, without a password reset

Names, emails, phone numbers, addresses and order history transfer with each customer. Volusion passwords can’t move, but nobody has to reset one: Shopify accounts sign in with an email and a one-time code.

Orders, coupons and your Article pages

Historical orders, discount codes, and your content — including the Article pages from Volusion’s built-in CMS — move across with their titles and meta descriptions, so the pages that already rank keep the search value they earned.

Reviews, set up before they land

Product reviews need a Shopify reviews app such as Judge.me or Yotpo in place first, or the import has nowhere to go. We set that up before the move so your social proof survives it.

Your Volusion URLs, mapped to Shopify

This is the part that decides whether you keep your rankings. Volusion builds its own Search Engine Friendly URLs — the /product_p/ and /category_s/ links from your URL Text fields, your Article pages, and the older ProductDetails.asp and SearchResults.asp links underneath them. Shopify uses fixed paths, so these all change. We list every old URL with a crawler, map each one to its closest new page, and set a permanent (301) redirect, so links, bookmarks and Google all land in the right place.

Example redirects from Volusion to the matching Shopify address.
Old Volusion address New Shopify address
/product_p/lh257.htm /products/linen-headband
/shirts_s/1.htm /collections/shirts
/companyhistory_a/1.htm /pages/company-history
/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=LH257 /products/linen-headband
/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1 /collections/shirts

Will I lose my Google rankings if I move from Volusion to Shopify?

No — your rankings carry over, and over time they can improve. We redirect every old Volusion URL to its closest Shopify page with a permanent 301, which Google says keeps its ranking value, and your titles, content and sitemap move with it. Expect a short dip for a week or two while Google recrawls, then a return to where you were. From there most stores we move tend to climb a little: Shopify serves pages from a fast global CDN and usually scores higher on Core Web Vitals and on mobile usability, both of which Google uses to rank pages. Nobody can promise a jump, but a faster, mobile-first store on clean, crawlable URLs gives Google every reason to hold your rankings, or lift them, within a month or two.

Will my old Volusion URLs redirect to the right Shopify pages?

Yes. We crawl your store to pull every live URL — Volusion’s /product_p/ and /category_s/ pages, your Article pages, and the older ProductDetails.asp and SearchResults.asp links underneath — and map each one to its matching Shopify product, collection or page. Discontinued products point to their parent collection, so nothing lands on a dead end.

Can you migrate all of my Volusion data?

Yes — products and their Options, ProductCodes, customers, order history, coupons, content pages and Article pages all transfer, mapped straight out of Volusion’s Import/Export. Product reviews need a Shopify reviews app installed first, and Option images need a manual check because Volusion exports them inconsistently. Stored card details never move, for PCI reasons.

Will my customers have to reset their passwords?

No. Volusion passwords can’t be migrated, but they don’t need to be: Shopify customer accounts sign in with an email address and a one-time code. Each customer’s order history moves across with their record.

How long does a Volusion to Shopify migration take?

Most of the time goes into the URL map, data checks and testing, not the switch itself. Your catalog size and the number of integrations set the timeline, so you get a dated plan with your quote, and we launch in your quietest traffic window.

Will my store stay online while we switch from Volusion to Shopify?

Yes. Your Volusion store keeps taking orders the whole time. We build and test the new Shopify store behind a password, then launch and run a final sync of any orders placed during the switch.

Do you redesign the store, or keep it like-for-like?

Either, and when we redesign the point is to convert better, not just look newer. If organic search brings in most of your sales, we launch close to your current look and roll out conversion changes in tested steps once your rankings settle. Otherwise we revamp the storefront around how your customers actually buy, then tune the product pages, cart and checkout for CRO. We recommend the right path for your store on your review call.

What does a Volusion to Shopify migration cost?

It depends on how many products and orders you’re moving, how many systems need connecting and whether the storefront is redesigned. After a free review of your Volusion store, we send a fixed quote in writing, so the number doesn’t move unless your scope does.

How your migration runs

Your current store keeps taking orders until launch day. Most of the work happens before the switch.

  1. Free migration review

A call with Shivam about your store, traffic, catalog and integrations. You get a straight answer on whether moving makes sense, then a fixed quote in writing.

  2. Audit and URL map

We crawl your site, pull your top pages from analytics and Search Console, and map every URL, product field and integration before anything moves.

  3. Build behind a password

Your Shopify store, theme and integrations are built and your data imported on a password-protected store while the old one keeps selling.

  4. Test and launch

Test orders, refunds and emails, plus redirect checks on your most-visited pages. We launch in your quietest traffic window, then sync any orders placed during the switch.

  5. Monitor and grow

After launch we watch Search Console, crawl errors and conversion rate and fix what comes up. Then, if you want, we move on to CRO and marketing.

What we put in writing

Thrivepine is a new agency, so we don’t have public reviews yet, and we won’t make any up. Every proposal includes these four commitments instead.

A fixed price

The quote is the price. It changes only if you change the scope, and you see the new number before we do the work.

Everything in your name

Your Shopify store, theme code, data, domain and app accounts belong to you from day one, so you can work with anyone after us.

Redirects checked twice

Your most-visited pages are tested before launch, and the full redirect map is crawled again after launch.

30 days of launch support

Anything that breaks in the first 30 days after launch is fixed at no extra cost.

Founding client program

Our first 10 migration clients get founding-client pricing. In return, we ask for an honest testimonial and permission to publish the project as a case study with real numbers.
